Agility is crucial to almost all field games today. Therefore agility training and physical education have spread its roots all across the world and are an integral part of the school curriculum and sports training.

Agility training works on the overall performance of athletes and helps build strength, stamina, flexibility other than establishing co-ordination of mind and body while in motion with control. The games which require footwork and hand movements like football, rugby, tennis, etc. demand high intensity of endurance at a stretch. A plethora of exercises and equipment are thus available to ensure the practitioner gets the expected outcome and minimize the risk of injuries. What are your memories of playing as a child? Some of us will remember hide and seek, house tag and red rover. Others may recall arguing about rules in kickball or stick ball or taking turns at jump rope, or creating imaginary worlds with our dolls, building forts, putting on plays, or dressing-up.

But what about children of this generation? Do they have opportunities for play the same as we had? Most likely…. Not & why so?

Studies says lack of play affects emotional development, leading to the rise of anxiety, depression, and problems of attention and self-control.  When kids get home, their days include more sitting around playing games and watching television. This has led to increased health problems.

It is an alarming situation, kids suffer from chronic disorders; innocence and sweet naughtiness is taken away by heavy eye glasses, fatigue, obesity, asthma, diabetes, weak immune system.

Governments are increasingly acknowledging the need for social policy that supports the development of young children. The Department of Education has come up with policies that offer opportunities which enable all students in Years 1-10 to participate in a minimum of two hours of physical activity each week during the school day. Schools are also encouraged to provide opportunities for students to be physically active at other times.
